Summer At Landgate

Summer at Landgate Our Summer Term was full of enriching activities. The school held a summer performance of 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' with every class performing a song from the musical and some learners playing characters from the story. Everyone tried so hard with making props and learning difficult lines. DoE Live!

Our College students decided to participate in woodwork for their skills section of DoE this year, last week we collected our materials from the wood yard. Today our students have been getting to grip with the tools and cutting down the wood following the measurements on our plans, we are having a great time!

5B Waddow Hall DoE Residential

Between 22nd and 26th May 5A and 5B took part in a residential trip to Waddow Hall in Clitheroe in order to complete their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award. The week was split into half with 5B attending the first half and 5A attending the second half. Whilst there the learners took part in a range of activities such as Canoeing, Archery, Low ropes, Night line, Grass sledging, Bush craft, Campfire, Zip line. Charity Netball Event

On Monday 6th May Landgate School took part in charity Netball tournament to raise money for the Duke of Edinburgh Diamond challenge and the stillborn awareness charity. Staff from the school had only 6 weeks training before the event who were expertly coached by Andrea Foulkes. The Tournament include schools from all over the North West such as Hope School, Oliver House, The Seashell Trust, Grange academy and the DofE North West Admin team. Holi Moli!

Landgate has been celebrating the Hindu festival of Holi this week and having a very colourful week. We have planted lots of new plants in the poly tunnel to mark the beginning of Spring. We have also done lots of different activities in classes to explore the culture of India and Hinduism such as making instruments, rangoli art, curry food tasting and much more.
