Personal Social Health Education & Citizenship
PSHE&C is defined by the schools inspectorate Ofsted as a planned programme to help children and young people develop fully as individuals and as members of families and social and economic communities. Its goal is to equip young people with the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live healthily, safely, productively and responsibly.
At Landgate our programme aims to have an impact on both academic and non-academic outcomes by building self-esteem, resilience and empathy, through tackling barriers to learning and raising aspirations. As a spiral programme, PSHE revisits three core and overlapping themes of Health and Wellbeing, Relationships and Living in the Wider World throughout all the key stages. At Key Stage Three Citizenship is a statutory subject which explores British Values as well as addressing the three core themes of PSHE.
