Key Stage 3 have been learning about The Salvation Army this term in RE and have held their own Christmas present appeal. Today they got to visit the local Salvation Army church in Ashton-in-Makerfield and deliver the presents to Claire Marriot-Lodge, the minister there. The presents were warmly welcomed and will go to people of the borough who won’t be getting any presents this Christmas. The learners also got to find out about the church and had fun pretending to be the minister, speaking from the lectern as well as trying out other different things. They were most surprised to find the church has its own shop and cafe. They are looking forward to forging more links with the church in the future.
