On Monday 6th May Landgate School took part in charity Netball tournament to raise money for the Duke of Edinburgh Diamond challenge and the stillborn awareness charity. Staff from the school had only 6 weeks training before the event who were expertly coached by Andrea Foulkes. The Tournament include schools from all over the North West such as Hope School, Oliver House, The Seashell Trust, Grange academy and the DofE North West Admin team. Every team played each other once and the top 4 went through to a semi-final and a final. After a fun packed night Landgate School made it to the final against Hope School, at the end of regulation time the game was tied at 1-1 which meant extra time. With the seconds counting down Hope had the ball in Landgate’s half and Landgate conceded a penalty under the posts, almost straight away we concede a second penalty which meant Hope had a free shot to win the game and the tournament.
After a fantastic night and lots of money raised Landgate School raised £147.87 for both of the charities. We would like to thank everyone who donated and also a massive Thank you to Gemma Crompton at Hope and Siovhan Partington at Oliver House for all the organisation and effort that went into making the event such a great night.
