The Aspire Federation is proudly celebrating the expansion of Landgate School, as its secondary school provision is now at the former Abram Bryn Gates Primary School site, marking a significant milestone for specialist education in Wigan.
The opening event brought together staff, learners and community leaders to recognise the transformation of the historic building into a modern learning environment for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Landgate School, which caters primarily for autistic learners from Early Years through to Key Stage 5, was awarded an Outstanding grading by in January 2025. This recognition has further strengthened its reputation as a leading provider of high-quality SEND education.
In response to growing demand, the Abram site has been refurbished to provide additional capacity, ensuring more learners across the borough can benefit from the school’s innovative and inclusive approach. The of Coun Jenny Bullen cut the ribbon to celebrate the opening of the school and was among the distinguished guests including representatives from, Aspire Federation leaders, governors and members of the local community.
