Functional Skills

Key Stage Five: Year 14 students are entered for AQA Functional Skills examinations. Functional Skills focuses on the practical skills that learners will need to use to be successful in life such as form filling, letter writing, reading instructions and being interviewed.

Additional English

Key Stage Five: Year 12 and 13 students are entered for the WJEC Additional English qualification. Additional English assesses the skills of knowledge and understanding of literary texts and the candidates’ ability to read and understand non-fiction and audio/visual texts. Candidates are also given the opportunity to create their own narratives.
