WORK EXPERIENCE
WORK EXPERIENCE
At Oakfield we believe that everyone in Y10 are given the opportunity to go out on a one week Work Experience placement to experience a real life working environment.
Mrs Gough co-ordinates and supports students in gaining access to work experience placements. This involves liaising with local businesses and preparing the students for the workplace and then along with their year group staff supporting them during their time at work. This experience helps them to develop important skills such as self -confidence, social and communication skills and further enhances their understanding of different environments and the world of work. Those students who are not ready to access placements within local industry are encouraged to gain experience of the working environment by participating in simulated work experiences within their School environment. A few students have worked in our main office, the ICT department, working with our Caretaker and Travel trainer.
We have always had positive feedback from employers which is testament to the number of years we have the same employers on roll as well as new employers.
