Mission Statement:
Working together for the benefit of our children Values We will:

High School and College’s Parent Teacher Association Membership Aims and Objectives
1. We will have high expectations of our community and what we can achieve, by
- expecting that all volunteers want the best for Oakfield High School and College’s pupils and learners
- Making no assumptions about parents, carers, families, staff or children
- Modelling Oakfield High School and College’s PTA on the best examples we can find
- Setting high, but realistic goals
- Promoting a ‘can do’ attitude and be a positive example of the best of our community
- Making volunteering a fun way to contribute more to our High School and College
2. We will make meaningful changes to benefit the High School and College community, by
- keeping the children at the heart of everything we do
- Ensuring the maximum amount of money is spent directly for benefit of pupils and learners
3. We will be inclusive and reflective of our community and Oakfield High School and College’s PTA aims, by reviewing membership, considering inclusivity, planning recruitment drives accordingly and seeking new recruits as and when necessary
- Ensuring work undertaken benefits as many people as possible
- Ensuring meetings are as accessible considering venue, time, length and notice of meeting
- Oakfield High School And College’s PTA welcomes and logs all feedback received
- Understanding that other people may have assets that we do not, and to seek these out to the benefit of our community
- Developing and promote a spirit of teamwork
- Reviewing our work regularly to take account of changing stakeholder profile and of Oakfield High School and College’s aims
4. To be transparent and open
- Widely advertising all ordinary meetings, circulate agendas, circulate minutes to PTA Members
- Agreeing, via mandate, goals, especially those to do with spending
- Following the agreed codes for handling donations, cash and spending
- Making documents publically accessible
- Ensuring voting is clear, understood and accessible, and that results are transparent
- Publishing activity regularly, perhaps in form of a newsletter or via PTA Minutes
5. We will follow the same professional expectations as paid staff, by
- respecting confidentially at all times
- Being willing to be trained and to be open minded to new ideas
- Being respectful at all times towards members of Oakfield High School and College’s PTA
- Ensuring all communications concerning Oakfield High School and College’s PTA are respectful and professional, and are signed off by the Chair
- Undertaking roles and jobs to the best of your ability, asking for assistance if necessary
- Following health and safety guidelines
- Treating Oakfield High School and College’s PTA Members and Oakfield High School and College’s resources with respect, understanding that misuse will affect the pupils and learners
- Following resignation guidelines
- Promoting the High School and College’s pupils and learners
- Understanding damage that can be done through negative comments on social networks
- Taking unresolved grievances to the Chair and/or Trustees at the earliest opportunity
- Following Oakfield High School and College’s whistle blowing policy
- Referring anything outside your remit to the Chair and/or Trustees
- Understanding that if you do not follow these rules, your case may be referred to the Chair and/or Trustees and all privileges may be removed
- Mentoring, using succession planning and shadowing to pass on and share our skills
6. Oakfield High School And College’s PTA will measure success in order to inform future work,
- By agreeing success criteria; to measure, review and to be willing to share review results
- Welcoming feedback, to log it and to share it
- Planning future work taking previous results into account
- Being accountable to stake holders
7. We will not expect or seek preferential treatment or financial, material benefit from Oakfield High School and College’s PTA Membership. We will use the correct official channels and Oakfield High School and College’s procedures to discuss your child only
